Tour to Cologne

On Tuesday, the accompanying persons of the conference participants have the opportunity to visit Cologne, the city of art and culture. After a small breakfast at the café Reichard with a magnificent view of the Cologne Cathedral you will explore the old town by foot. Under the direction of a renowned city guide you will get to know the most important sights. Afterwards, we invite you to a lunch at the Peters Brewery. The rustic wooden furniture and historical murals in one of the six restaurant rooms demonstrate the characteristic atmosphere of a brewery. Besides traditional dishes the brewery offers light cuisine by now. After lunch you will visit the museum Wallraf-Richartz. The museum has one of the world’s leading collections of mediaeval painting. In celebration of the 500th birthday of the painter genius Jacopo Tintoretto the museum will present the large special exhibition Tintoretto – A Star was Born. For the first time, the Cologne picture gallery showcases the mesmerizing early work of the Italian master, who is among the most productive and influential artists of all time. The exhibition not only presents world famous works by the young Tintoretto, but also the results of the latest research. You will be back just in time to visit the traditional banquet in Aachen.

City Park Aachen & Visit of the Ludwig Forum

Right in the city center the City Park Aachen, a large green Oasis, is situated. As of 1853, the park was planted according to Peter Joseph Lenné, the most renowned German garden artist of his time. On Wednesday morning, you will discover this delightful green area with its impressive ancient trees and manifold aesthetic views. Afterwards you can enjoy a small coffee break at the Restaurant Mediterraneo in view of the impressive bathing hall of the Carolus Thermen. A short stroll to the museum Ludwig Forum, which is only a few minutes away, will follow. Opened in 1991, the Ludwig Forum and its collection are presented as a kaleidoscope of a world from the cultural regions (Eastern-)Europe, Asia, North and Latin America. With the special exhibition in October the museum presents its own Cuban works vis-à-vis contemporary art from Cuba. After the guided tour we invite you to a lunch at the restaurant Elisenbrunnen.
