Badaling Great Wall

The Badaling section is the most visited part of the famous Great Wall, the world’s longest defensive wall. It is located around 80 km / 60 miles from Beijing. To reach the top and experience a bird’s eye view from this section of the Great Wall, there is a cable car available.

Forbidden City

The Forbidden City was build from 1406 bis 1420. The complex in the centre of Beijing served as the imperial palace for twenty-four emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It covers an area of more than 70 hectares, which allows walking for up to two to three hours.

Summer Palace

Situated in the Haidian District northwest of Beijing City, the Summer Palace is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from central Beijing. The largest and most well-preserved royal park in China integrates famous natural views as well as numerous pavilions and halls.

Hutongs

In Beijing, traditional courtyard residences called siheyuan form neighborhoods of narrow alleys, which are known as hutongs. They represent a former traditional way of living in Beijing. Although the number of hutongs has dropped since midth of the 2oth century due to demolishing, some are protected as important element of Bejing’s culture now .

Olympic Green

The Olympic Green is the Olympic park built for the Summer Olympics in 2008. The main venues are the stadium, called “Bird’s Nest” (see picture) and the aquatics center, called “Water Cube”. The modern architecture attracts numerous visitors.
